After reading many PM's from newbies, I thought I'd put together a list of helpful tips. I was new to the game once and I know where you are all coming from... You want to get super strong or super huge, super fast... You either want badly to know how to get your hands on gear or want badly to take gear as soon as you get some... This can be a BIG mistake in many regards!
1. RESEARCH: Before you do anything from lifting weights, to nutrition, to aas... Research your arse off! Don't just start doing something, without having a full understanding of what it affects, how it affects it, pro's and cons etc. Your body has feedback loops. If add a hormone to your body it will affect that feedback loop. Know exactly how each system works, before introducing anything into your body.
2. If you are on the younger side, 17, 18, 19 years old, your hormones are likely still at their optimum levels for growth..... There is no reason to introduce aas into your system at this time and adversley affect this balance. Weight till your test production etc is on the down swing. If you think for some reason that your hormones are not at optimum levels... Simply ask your doc to do bload work and test your total and free testosterone levels... same goes with thyroid, LH, FSH, etc.
3. PLAN! ! ! ! PLAN! ! PLAN everything starting with deciding on goals, using your prior and new research to figure out the best means to achieve those goals. Plan your workouts, your eating schedule, your meals, your cycle. Then go out and buy whatever you need. DO NOT buy things then try and figure out how to use them......
If you don't have a plan, you don't have anything.
4. If you are new to the game, don't openly post asking others to email you with a source. That is just asking for trouble and to lose your hard earned dough. There are many scammers and they prey on people who do this. Take your time, hang around different boards and develope relationships, and then learn who the players are.
5. If you decide to use aas, which I do not condone and is illegal in some countries, then do it right! Your prior research noted above comes in here. Once you've established your goals, determine which aas is best to reach them, then determine dosages and set up a cycle. Gather the aas. ALL OF IT, including Nolva, clomid, etc. I don't know how many times I see someone get all the way through the cycle after busting their ass and then lose gains, because they cannot get clomid on short notice, or get bitch tits (gyno), cuz they cannot get nolva on short notice when they start to see signs of gyno...... It's worth the extra couple weeks to gather all your goodies... As much as you want to jump in with the first one you get in your hand... DON"T!
6. NUTRITION: Your research should have shown you that nutrition is key. If you aren't eating properly, you won't gain training naturally, and your gains on aas will be hindered. Once your training and Nutrition are down pat and you know exactly what to eat and how much of it, and have plateau'd with natural training, then aas would be the icing on the cake. But if your Nutrition is not down, you will not be eating enough or properly to keep your gains after your cycle.
7. Did I mention RESEARCH?! Read up on everything.. everywhere, search the net, other boards, this board.... Don't play with something you know little about. Some things can and do kill people who take them without understanding and researching them first. Don't be one of these people.
8. If you decide to take aas. Don't brag about it. Don't talk to people about it, don't act like a loud obnoxious fool because you suddenly think you are tough or cool because you are getting bigger and stronger faster than the natural people. It is this type of behavior that leads to the stereotyping of people who supplement with aas, as hot headed, juice heads, and gives everyone a bad rap. Carry yourself with dignity and respect others! By Bragging, you also endanger yourself if aas is illiegal in your country, and you possibly jeopardize your provider and possibly other's who have obtained their ergogenic aids from them.
That's all I have off the top of my head. Anyone feel free to add something I left out. This should get it started with some basics. Know the laws of your country and abide by them. This post is for informational purposes only and in no way is intended as medical advice.
9. Keep a diet journal. As he so nicely stated in another thread, It's very easy to think you are eating enough and or proper portions, when you aren't... Keep a journal for a few weeks to help put your eating on track.....
10. Pictures.. It's easy for your mind to work against you... You may think you aren't growing or making progress, or your training isn't working, or aas wasn't as effective, etc.... Take a self pic every few weeks wearing the same close. Then you can outsmart yourself and see the results that you don't notice from day to day...
